POWERHOUSE POINTER #28

I have to admit it... I love shopping for dainty sundresses, open-toe heels, colorful sunglasses and big purses. However, I will never spend my money when I know I have a business expense to pay for or I need to put money aside for a networking function. So, for all of you shopping lovers who are also entrepreneurs, I caution you to put back that dress, shoe, pair of glasses or purse if you catch yourself heading to the check-out line. You may just need those funds in case that next business opportunity comes up.

POWERHOUSE POINTER #26

In the Bible, the scripture says "you have not because you ask not." You can have an amazing skillset, but if you don't ask people to invest in what you have to offer by way of the becoming your client, your talent will go unused and you will stay broke. However, when you put yourself out there and show proof that you can do what you say you can, your asking will yield results beyond your desires. So, posiion yourself for a power move by asking for what you want.

POWERHOUSE POINTER # 25

I have noticed so many people are talking about being thankful these days -- and not for "things" but for the gift of LIFE. Someone didn't wake up this morning. Someone lost their battle yesterday. Some are breathing right now but not living. If you are in the Land of the Living, I beg of you to put aside any complaining and lift up your head and hands, and give Our Father some serious praise. Life is great. And, I AM thankful!

POWERHOUSE POINTER # 24

I was recently accused of being cocky. The accuser referred to my book, "Be Ye Transformed and Move Mountains NOW!", in which a photo of me accompanies each chapter. If the person had taken the time to see the connection, she'd realize that each picture had a connection to the meaning of the message. The real issue for her, I believe, is that I am nice on the eyes (so say people) and I'm not afraid to smile for the camera. There is a clear difference between cockiness and confidence. I am the latter and will not apolotize for it. If someone tries to attack you for being who you are, don't receive it. They have an issue with theirself. You keep on doing what's right and flashing those pearly whites.

POWERHOUSE POINTER #23

One day as I was eating while typing, my bowl of soup fell off of my lap and the juice spilled into my laptop. Although I immediately cleaned up the accident, the damage was done. "Betsy" turned on for a few tries and then she was dead. This wasn't good. I called up the company I purchased my laptop from to find out that I had one-year accidental handling, which covered spills. I am so glad that I put out some extra funds to cover a future accident. I urge you to do the same!

POWERHOUSE POINTER #22

I have entered a transitional phase in my life. Intially, it was scary. The unknown is always like that. But once I talked to several members of my support team, I realized that I should embrace this time. This phase is for my good and will be a testimony to the people I later share my experience with. So please, when transition knocks on your door, open it up, let it in and say "Thank You." Your life will be the better because of it.

POWERHOUSE POINTER #21

As the bus approached my stop, I took out my Metrocard (which had $1.75 left on it) and two quarters. I needed $2.25 for the one-way ride.
When I got on the bus and attempted to pay, plastic was covering the payment machine. I began thanking God for the free ride. In order to get to my students from where I dropped off my children, I have to take three buses (that is, if I don't want to walk). You can only get one transfer on a fair. When I caught the second bus, I'd be able to use the transfer for the third bus without paying again.
It may seem small to some but this occurance was a true blessing. I was expecting the favor of God today when I woke up this morning. I asked that His will be done and that He grant me grace and abundancy. I'm receiving it, too.
I not only want you to anticipate God's favor today, but tomorrow, next week, next year and all throughout your life. When you expect, you will receive. I'm proof positive.

When planning an event, one of your goals may very well be to pack the place. But what happens when you don't get the turnout you desired? Do you cut back on the energy you would have put in the event if it were filled to capacity? NO! The show must go on. You CAN'T control the turnout. You CAN control your delivery. If people don't show, oh well. Your focus should be on the ones who did. They are who really matter.

POWERHOUSE POINTER #20

As I was about to walk up the steps at the Nostrand Avenue train station on the 3 line, a gentleman was coming down who looked quite familar. When he got to the last step, I stopped him and said, "I know you from somewhere, right?" His response was, "Yes."
Turns out, we worked together at Goodwill Industries of Greater New York New Jersey about five years ago where I was a workshop facilitator. He was such a kind co-worker who loved the Lord. Today, he's the Assistant Pastor of his church. He gave me his business card to the church and I handed him information on my solo mommy movement.
I know our meeting was meant because as I prepare for The State of the Solo Mommy Address one of my target audiences is the churches. This was another door opening.
Be ready when you meet people (or reconnect with them). They may have what you need to take your project or cause to the next level or help more people learn about what you do. I'm following up with my former co-worker today. I'm expecting a favorable outcome.

POWERHOUSE POINTER #18

After crossing the street bus station bound, I realized that I had forgotten my rolling bookbag. It contained my laptop, lunch and promotional materials. I wanted to go back home, but time didn't permit. I didn't sweat not having my mobile office. I simply focused on other things I could do like make phone calls, check my P.O. Box, etc. I'm going about my day - with a little less baggage, at that. So I say to you, don't stress over anything today. Simply go with the flow.

POWERHOUSE POINTER #17

A lot of people will get up this morning dreading the day. To them, Monday signifies the beginning of a long work week. They'll totally miss that Monday is really the start to a beautiful experience. I'm glad it's Monday. There's so much that I'm looking forward to accomplishing. Embrace the positive possibilities that Monday and the week and watch how wonderful things will turn out.

POWERHOUSE POINTER #16

I get a lot of Facebook "Friend" requests. However, before I click "confirm," I screen the potential friend. I want to know what the person is about, the type of activity that they have on their page and the FB company that they keep. I need to see what is our commonality and why they want to be friends. If I don't get the answers I'm searching for, no friendship is started. The people who share my cyberspace world must be about something BIG. Please be just as mindful!

POWERHOUSE POINTER #15

I was just watching a recording of Lady Clara reciting the poem, "Our Deepest Fear" at Kim M. Sudderth's women's empowerment conference this past March. It lead me to thinking about the fact that so many people live in FEAR of fulfilling their destiny. They think that their FEARs are valid. They are afraid of being rejected or ridiculed. They are simpy FEARful of the unknown. If this is you and there is something that God has called you to do, I challenge you to push pass that False Evidence Appearing Real (FEAR). You have goals to accomplish. The world needs the gifts and talents that you possess if you'd only step into your greatness. We're waiting!

POWERHOUSE POINTER #14

When you look into the mirror, what do you see? I ask people this very question in my "Mirror Mirror" self-esteem workshop. I believe that what we see determines how we navigate life. If you see a champion when you stand before the "reflection glass," you will be the type to go out and conquor your goals, desires as well as life's challenges. I dare you to see greatness when you look in the mirror so that you can go out and do great things.

Whenever you're on the path to success, you're going to run into what's commonly referred to as the "HATERS." These are the folks who try to get in your way, talk bad about you and look to shoot you down every opportunity they get. I implore you to see them for who they really are: Motivators! They are the reason you MUST win. Welcome them. "Hi hater!"

It's a fact that in life that you will have disappointments. However, when they come, don't allow your emotions succumb to the feeling of defeat. Start praising God with a mighty faith and assurance that things will work out in HIS time. I had to do that this morning and I feel GREAT! I don't have time to dance in a pity party or join the whoa-is-me club. You don't either!

POWERHOUSE POINTER #11

You may be feeling a bit frustrated because you haven't achieved your dream as of yet. But, I'm begging you not to let your dream die. You are so close to claiming it. I can feel it coming. Your job  is to keep pressing on. Do something everyday toward your desire. If you really want it, you won't quick. Besides, giving up is NOT in your DNA. I have faith in you. Have faith in yourself and know that God will give you the desires of your heart.
