POWERHOUSE POINTER (Don’t Tear Down Your House -- Stay In It and Build It Up!)

As a solo mommy with a busy schedule and children who have an even busier schedule, it’s needless to say that me, Lady Clara and Sir Isaac are always on the move. We’re out more than we are home between community events, church, school games that my daughter cheers for, mime rehearsal and performances for my son, networking events, on and on and on. I’m always changing bags to fit my wardrobe and because time is tight, the purses accumulate. So do the fliers, brochures and promotional material that I collect from the affairs that I attend.

When I finally end up home to do bring it down and get rest, my heart says “get to the papers” but my body is like “you can wait until another time”. The accumulation keeps coming if I don’t take care of it. But if I’m not in the house to deal with it as I should, the build up will continue. In the NIV version of the Bible, Proverbs 14:1 says: “The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down. I got to thinking real hard about this because I want my home to be a strong foundation for my children to know and appreciate order. If I am out all the time and never home to take care of home, what am I teaching them?

So, this POWERHOUSE has decided to slow down a bit so that I can take care of home as I should. I advise you to do the same. ~ Feona Sharhran Huff, Founder & CEO of Powerhouse Media Group

POWERHOUSE POINTER (Let Go of Your Ego)

"Let go of your EGO. It's NOT always about you and you CAN'T always have it your way. When you consider the bigger picture, you will understand more clearly that the right thing to do is be open. In this instance, you will receive the GREATER blessing that IS for YOU." ~ Feona Sharhran Huff, Founder & CEO of Powerhouse Media Group

It's Okay to Let Stuff Go!

Sometimes you have to let material possessions go and be okay with it. Yes, they may hold precious memories but please remember that they are just things. I value and appreciate everything that God has allowed me to obtain but what I don't ever want to do is get get caught up in having things to the point that I get bent out of shape and distraught when it's time to those let things go whether on
my own terms, by force or circumstance.

Consider what Matthew 6:19-21 (NIV) says:

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

This is profound food for thought. Have a blessed evening. ~ Feona Sharhran Huff, Founder & CEO of Powerhouse Media Group

POWERHOUSE POINTER (Don't Let Your Passion Be Pushed Away)

"When you are purposed to do something great, situations and people will surely come to rock and snatch you off the boat with the sole intent to get you to abort the dream that was planted in your spirit. But I dare you to square your feet, straighten your back, wipe those tears, take hold of your handy dandy notebook and keep writing and review your vision until it is manifested in the natural. I am doing this very same thing, So, we're on the journey together." ~ Feona Sharhran Huff, Founder & CEO of Powerhouse Media Group

I Went to Empower and Was Empowered at NSU's Family Enrichment Conference

I had a powerhouse time on Saturday at The 3rd Annual Family Enrichment Conference sponsored by Norfolk State University's WoMEN's Economic Development Center. I was a panelist for the parenting workshop, got on stage inside of Brown Memorial's t
heater to do a 10-minute Zumba demonstration with my sorority sister who was leading the dance workout, purchased several pieces of jewelry/accessories (including a "I Love Delta" pennant) and networked like my life depended on it. Oh yes, I had a blast. I am still in a high. I empowered my guests and at the same time walked away with savvy info. Here are the photos to prove it:

POWERHOUSE MEDIA GROUP (Don’t Wait Until Thanksgiving to be Thankful)

In six days (Thursday, Nov 22nd to be exact), people will be gather around dinner tables across the country to celebrate the Thanksgiving Holiday. While telling loved ones that you love and appreciate them as well as acknowledging that you are thankful for a roof over your head, clothes on your back, shoes on your feet, employment, good health, etc is an a wonderful thing, let’s be clear that you should wait until this day, which comes once a year, to count your blessings. You should have something to be thankful for everyday and to make your thankfulness known to God.

In a world where so much is happening – good and bad – acknowledging what the Father has done for you as well as his grace and mercy bestowed upon you and yours should be a daily regimen. I think if I had to write down all that I was thankful for in a day’s time I would be exhausted and ready to remove the pen from my fingers – and I love to write.  But it’s just that serious for me. As I close out this Friday, I can say that I am thankful that God kept me safe throughout the day. I am thankful that the love I have for Jesus exudes from my pores and it attracts my colleagues to me for advice, encouragement, a listening ear or a laugh (they say I’m hilarious!). I am thankful for the hugs that Lady Clara gave me when I surprised her by picking her up from school. I am thankful for the big smile and huge hug that Sir Isaac gave me when I gifted him with a travel case of antique mini race cars (92 of them at that). I am thankful for the smile and warm greetings that I can give my downstairs neighbor who is also a solo mommy. I am thankful that my cell phone bill is paid which allowed me to deliver this POWERHOUSE POINTER on The Re-Up Radio Show tonight. I am thankful that my laundry wasn't locked up in the laundromat because it closes at 9 pm and that’s when I had to be on the line. I am thankful for the peace that I feel right now in the midst of some of life’s present storms.

No, I don’t have to wait until next week to say what I’m thankful for. Neither do you. Do me a favor and email me what you’re thankful for to powerhouse4ever@gmail.com. The first person to do so will be featured as Powerhouse Media Group’s “Powerhouse Player of the Week” because acknowledging daily thankfulness is powerful.  I will post it here on Thanksgiving Day. Thank you for visiting us and do come again! ~ Feona Sharhran Huff, Founder & CEO of Powerhouse Media Group
