POWERHOUSE POINTER (The Show Must Go On!)

If you've ever planned an event, I'm sure you did your very best to market it. You pulled out all the bells and whistles to ensure that people knew about it and would be in attendance -- even down to the night before. Great. You received confirmations and your guest list began looking mighty long.

However, when the event was set to begin, you saw that no one was there -- well, all except for your volunteers. Most would call it "quits" and tell the help to go home. I would advise different. You put a lot of hard work into what you planned. You may not have the crowd you'd expected. But, you have yourself and a few others. The show should still go on.

Think about it this way... Someone may receive a breakthrough, receive clarity, come up with an idea or encourage you to keep pursuing your dream. It's not so much the quantity that matters but the quality, intent and blessings that come from seeing your event's vision 'til the end.  - Feona Sharhran Huff, CEO of Powerhouse Media Group

You Never Know Who You're Sitting Beside and What is His/Her Story

Sir Isaac, Lady Clara and I headed to our regular spot to set up our laptops at the library just now. Two gentleman were already sitting at the table when we arrived. We greeted them and went about our businesses. Something seemed special about these gentlemen. They had their workbooks out with sentences underlined and were exchanging questions and answers.

A few minutes into sitting there, I asked the gentleman what were they studying. The one seated beside my son showed me the cover of his book and shared that they were recovering alcoholics trying to get their lives together. I congratulated them and said that we all have times in our lives when we have to get it together. I bidded him a Southern Comfort-style smile and continued what I was doing.

You never know what the person sitting next to you has gone through. That's why you can't be judgemental of anyone. No one is better than the other. We just have "seasons" when life seems to be smoother or harder than others. It was a pleasure to witness the change these gentlemen were seeking. It makes me want to do better.

Check out the T-shirt Logo for "The WALK Project"

Introducing Clara Huff's logo design for "The WALK Project" T-shirts. The shirts will be available for purchase by the end of the month. We will wear them at the January 2012 walk (and the walks to come) to show our unity and spread the word. My 11-year-old daughter and artist director of My Budding Picasso did a fab job of capturing the essence of the walk. Go first born! Check out additional work by Clara Huff at www.myspace.com/mybuddingpicasso. Click here to join the walk: http://www.facebook.com/events/101735703278273.

POWERHOUSE POINTER #40 (Be Careful What You Say to and Around Children)

Be careful what you say to and around children. They are taking it all in -- good or bad. And, it has lasting effects. You have the power to groom future "world leaders." You want to be a builder not a destroyer. Use your tongue wisely. ~ Feona Sharhran Huff, Founder & CEO of Powerhouse Media Group, www.stepintoyourpower.net

POWERHOUSE POINTER #39

When you have a "real" friend (I mean one who is ride-or-die, does not judge but offers constructive criticism, stretches and challenges you, has your back emotional and finanially and loves from the heart and now with a hidden agenda), you better hold on to him/her and be a mirror reflection of their friendship. We know many people but not all of them are this type of friend. Cleave to them!

**This PP posting is dedicated to Carla Kelly Turner (pictured here with me), Tanya Kerr, Wayne Winston, Matthew Scott, Rahim Salahuddin and Lenny Matthews, to name a few.

POWERHOUSE POINTER #38

It's so easy to get consumed with your own agenda. You want to make major moves, accomplish profound goals, get paid and be famous. But what about making a difference in the life of a young person? To me, this is essential to creating a legacy of service-minded youth that will (with your influence) turn into service-minded adults and community activists. I beg you to identify just one young person today and start to sow into their life. Don't forget that someone did that for you. Right?! POWERHOUSE POINTER #37

Never "dumb down" what you do to pacify people's insecurities and issues with what they lack. You were designed ON PURPOSE to be magnificent in many areas. Let your light authentically shine through your talents and skillsets so that others will be inspired to follow suit with their respective gifts.
