Back-2-School Drive Aims to Position Students for Scholastic Success
On Saturday, August 23, 2014, from 10 am to 3 pm, Powerhouse Media Group (www.stepintoyourpower.net) will present the 2nd Annual Timothy Huff Back-2-School Supply Giveaway & Birthday Celebration in the Indian River section of Chesapeake, VA. The goal of this annual event is to provide backpacks, pencils, composition notebooks, combination locks, markers, index cards and other school essentials to students returning to school in September 2014. The theme of this year’s giveaway is "Positioned for Scholastic Success". In conjunction with this mission, PMG will be celebrating the 11th birthday of honor roll student and Out the Box Kidz mime member Timothy Isaac Huff-Perry.
In addition to giving out free supplies, PMG will have a parent resource table, a literacy table where students can pick a book, a vision board table to create goals for the 2014-2015 academic year, Zumba instruction and face painting by Clara Huff who is the Artistic Director of My Budding Picasso Art and an AVID scholar at Indian River Middle School. The youth in attendance will vie for prizes as they play PMG's signature brain testing game "Are You Savvier Than a Powerhouse?" as well as other games and contests.
South Hampton Roads’ very own 11-year-old DJ Diva. Out the Box Mime and hip-hop Christian group sWord will be performing. Some of the event’s sponsors include Enliven Radio, Pearls on the Move, Hampton Roads Entertainment Group and Little Black Dress Event Planning and Concierge Services LLC. Additionally, there will have vendors, food and lots of fun.
